5 Things You Don't Know About Me
There's only so much you can take away from my blog posts about me and my personality, and I'm hoping this post will give you a little more insight to me! Here are 10 facts about me that you probably don't know!
1.) I Changed My Identifying Name
Up until I was 15 years old, I went by my middle name, 'Kelsey'. It was the name my family called me from the day I was born and had been up until the middle of my first year in high school. There were several other girls with the same name, but with other spellings. By the time winter break had arrived, I was beyond sick of getting progress reports with my name misspelled. It was always misspelled. So I decided (in the middle of the school year) to change my name to 'Izzy.' It was easy to spell, and quite fit my personality much better! I remember going up to my high school teachers and telling them I wanted to be called by a different name. They would ask why, and I would tell them 'Because you can't spell my name right, so maybe this will be easier for you.'
2.) I Played The Violin
I have a love for the sound of the violin, and have since I was in Elementary School. I first started learning to play the violin when I was 10 years old (5th Grade). I loved it so much that I continued all the way through my last year of high school and earned a plaque! I haven't touched my violin in a few years due to extreme focus of my dance career, but I love it all the same.
3.) I Was Almost Published
As part of a Creative Writing class I was taking as a Sophomore in high school, it was required to send out submissions in hopes to get published. So, I sent out one of my best poems to Chicken Soup for the Soul. And to my surprise, the responded the last day of school, wanting to publish my poem! I still have the emailed saved from that day. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to submit the paperwork and my poem was not published. But hey! They wanted to published it and that counts! ;)
4.) I Am A Gamer
I grew up watching my dad play the Super Nintendo on our teeny tiny TV in Texas. I am almost exclusively a PC gamer, but every now and again, I do play console. My hubby and I are so into video games, we have a "nerd cave." Basically an 2nd bedroom in our apartment for playing video games. It's awesome!
5.) I Collect Japanese Chop Sticks
This is something that has developed over time, that I didn't even realize until I packed up and moved to begin my professional ballet career. I grew up really loving Japanese Culture, and I enjoyed learning to use Chopsticks. I think as of today, I own 20 pairs of Chopsticks.... and I would buy more if my husband would let me!
Let me know in the comments what is something different about you! I'd love to know!
