Labral Tear Update
This will be the first time on my blog that I have talked about my Labral Tear, and I do not think it will be the last. About three years ago, when I was still dancing professionally, I was dropped on my hip by my partner. A year later, I fell on the same spot I was dropped and my hip has not been the same since. I eventually left my job due to the pain I was feeling. This pain goes from being dull and annoying, to the worst pain I have felt in my whole life that reaches from my knee to my mid back. It was surprisingly crippling the first time I experienced that kind of pain and completely paralyzed me. It started happening at the most random of times; at home, at work, at Home Goods an the grocery store. It was awful, and still is.
It wasn't until about 8 months ago that I finally took action and made the doctors appointment. The first doctor that I went to have a consultation with was a complete waste of my time. They didn't listen to a word I said, and it took them two and a half months to give me the results of the one x-ray they took. I was a very unhappy patient. I made another appointment with a different doctor and I absolutely love them! The entire staff is very kind, and my doctor is a such sweetheart. I was referred to a Sports Medicine specialist, and had several x-rays done. About a month later I had an Arthogram (which was terrifying) and was diagnosed with a labral tear in my right hip. I was sent to physical therapy, which did absolutely nothing, if not made it worse and shortly after had a cortizone shot.
This is where the update begins.
It has been a full month since I had my cortizone shot, and it did nothing to benefit my hip. I have two canes now; one at home, and one I keep at work. I have also begun Bemer Therapy. I still don't know a lot about Bemer Therapy other than it is supposed to help with blood flow and circulating white blood cells. I am hoping this helps, even if just a little bit. My sports med doctor said when we last spoke "If the cortizone shot fails, the next step will be a consultation with a hip surgeon" and I cannot afford go that route at this time in my life. Especially as the manager of a small, very specialized business.
I hope this helps anyone with a labral tear. Let me know if you have any questions! I have a video I filmed on my Youtube channel that goes more in-depth with the details when I first started my appointments and I'll be sure to link it for you below.
Thanks again for stopping by!
