Winter Skincare Routine
The only (slightly) bad aspect of living in the Northwest is how dry the air gets in the winter time. Like, it’s barely even snowed so far, and my skin is already peeling. Great.
I recently switched out some of my skin care products to help with the dryness I start to experience this time of year. So today, I’m going over my skincare routine for the winter time!
I’m going to start with the one product I have stopped using completely during the colder months; Toners. Although it is supposed to help with the size of your pores, tightness of skin and cleaning out extra gunk in your skin, toners dry out my face like NO other product I’ve ever used. I kept using this when it started to get colder and my face literally started to peel away…
Since I have stopped using this, my face has stopped peeling. Once summer comes again, it’ll surely find it’s way back into my routine.
Vanity Planet Facial Cleansing Brush
This is the beginning of my skincare routine. I love this cleansing brush and there will be an entire blog post about it soon. It comes with 3 brush heads, and I have switched from the silicone brush (very bottom) to the daily brush (very top), mostly because the silicone brush became to harsh on my skin. I love how my face feels after I use this cleansing brush, especially with the cleanser I am currently using!
I start with the first setting to get the first layer of dirt off, and then I partially rinse off the brush and change to the second setting for a deeper clean.
Exuviance Clarifying Facial Cleanser
I have been using this cleanser for a few years now, and it is by far my favorite!
Its big ingredient for me is the tea tree oil. Tea Tree oil kills bacteria, and has been the only thing to seriously help with my acne. I found it at Ulta and its a bit more expensive than I usually like to spend, but the reaction my face has to this specific cleanser is SO worth it.
I put about a dime sized amount of cleanser on the brush.
Daytime Moisturizer
Olay Total Effects Fragrance Free Whip w/ 25 SPF
This was a product I switched to on a whim when it started to get colder. I’d heard about it and how great it was, so what the hell? I really like how this moisturizer does the job without making me feel greasy and gross. Do some moisturizers do that for anyone else? Yes? No?
Anyways I use this in the AM after I dry off my face.
Nighttime Moisturizer
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer
Another buy-on-a-whim product that I ended up being very happy with! I have been testing out different products with retinol to help my acne scarring without seriously damaging my skin and this one hits the spot! My favorite part about this moisturizer is that as I work the cream into my skin, it almost turns into water and is so smooth on my skin. I go to bed feeling ready to fall asleep.
So there you have it! This is how I am keeping my face moisturized and free of dry, peeling skin!
This is all for now!
