The Best & Worst Disposable Diapers - 2020

Let’s talk about diapers.

Ben has gone through SO. MANY. DIAPERS. It seriously blows my mind thinking about all of the diapers that have gone on my son’s behind and into the trash. Including how much money has also gone into the trash with the diapers that did NOT work for my son. I wish I had the determination to cloth diaper, and maybe with the next baby I will. But for this first time mama, disposables were the way to go.

As a FTM, you get advice from every corner of your family, friend group, church group, sometimes even from a stranger at the grocery store. It can be overwhelming! I figured I could make everyone bestowing their diaper knowledge onto me happy by trying the diapers they recommended. And you never know which one your child will like best, right?

My hope today is to give you the down-low on a few of the diaper brands we tried for Benjamin. Why they worked, why they didn’t, and hopefully save you some time and money picking out diapers for your precious lil babe.

I’ll preface by saying that Benjamin’s skin is not sensitive. He could have cared less about the product covering his booty as long as it was dry and clean. I would prefer if a diaper didn’t leak, or allow him to have a total blowout, and the cheaper the better, right? We’ll start with the cheapest on the market.

(Examples found are Size 3 Diapers in the largest pack available)

Parent’s Choice - Available at Walmart

Parent's Choice Disposable Diapers

When money was tight and Ben was nearly out of diapers, we tried the Parent’s Choice Disposable Diapers. $23.32 ($0.11 each) for a case of 210 diapers was a pretty amazing deal in my eyes. They were a little thin for my liking, but he went through all 200+ diapers with no blowouts! If money is tight, these diapers are a pretty decent one to get! These runs pretty true to size against other name-brand diapers.

Up&Up Giant Pack - Available at Target

Up&Up Giant Pack of Disposable Diapers

This brand was another one we had decided to try when we were gifted a gift card to Target. $21.99 ($0.13 each) for a box of 168 Size 3 diapers. Again, these were still quite thin, and he had a blowout or two by the time we finished the box. Up&Up also runs a little bit bigger than some of the name brands which helps if your little one is in between sizes!

The Honest Company Diapers - Available at most Retail Stores

The Honest Company Super Club Pack Size 3

Not going to lie, these diapers were a splurge for me. We bought the smallest pack from Target, but they are also available on Amazon. Their Super Club Box with 136 diapers runs at $49.99 ($0.37 each), the most expensive on the market. I tried these because it seemed like every Influencer I followed swore by these diapers. I however, do not. Not only were they extremely expensive, Ben had so many blowouts in these diapers. They also do not have the yellow line feature that most diapers have these days, which helped this tired mama identify if my precious boy was crying because he was wet or not. I would not recommend these diapers to anyone, especially for their price.

Hello Bello Club Box - Available at Walmart

Hello Bello Diapers - Club Box

Up until I had Ben, I had never heard of these diapers, and probably for good reason. The largest pack I could find at Walmart was 92 diapers for $23.94 ($0.26 each) and I was extremely unsatisfied. Sure, the patterns are super cute, but these thin diapers were blowout central for Ben. Almost every single time he worn them he would leak through them, and any time he pooped was near disaster.

Pampers Swaddlers - Available at Most Retail Stores

Pampers%2BSwaddlers

So here’s a company that has been around longer than the first time I had a diaper on my baby booty. Their largest pack I found at Walmart was 168 diapers for $46.90 ($0.28 each), not too bad but still a little expensive, and again, available on Amazon (those Prime deliveries am I right?). I kid you not, every time Ben had a bowel movement, he blew out of these diapers. They were not secure at all around his legs no matter which size he wore, and he peed out of them more times than not. I hated these diapers, and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Huggies Little Snugglers - Available at Most Retail Stores

Huggies Little Snugglers Value Pack

I honestly saved the best for last. Their largest pack found at Target/Amazon has 156 diapers for $46.70 ($0.29 each). These are the only diapers I use. Ben has had maybe 3 blowouts the 9 months he’s worn these diapers (and it was an ungodly bowel movement let me tell you!) These diapers have a little more cushion to them which we liked, and Ben seemed to be very happy in these diapers, even through a full night’s sleep! I will always pick Huggies diapers over everything else on this list.

I hope this breakdown of diapers has helped you in some way! If you’re not sure which one your little one will like best, I suggest buying the smallest pack possible of a few different ones. This allows your little one to try them out without spending a ton of money on diapers that don’t necessarily work for you.

Are there any other diaper brands I didn’t cover that you like? I’d love to know which ones worked for your lil babe!

This is all for now!

Tootles,
