An Honest Curology Review

Not gonna lie you guys, I had high hopes for Curology. I tried it about five years ago for a few months and was disappointed about the results. For reference, my skin type is a bit of a combination in some parts. I’m super oily on my forehead, nose and chin, and I can be either very dry or very oily.

Since I met my husband 2 years ago and finally arrived on the healthy side of life, my acne has been little to non-existent. During my pregnancy, I had no acne. Its been a serious miracle for my poor face. Growing up, I had horrible cystic acne as a teen, which I (of course), picked at and created some massive craters in my face. Luckily the cystic acne subsided for the most part after I passed my 21st birthday. So this “having almost no acne” thing has been awesome.

Fast forward to now, I am still pretty insecure about the dark spots and craters in my face, and I'd been doing a ton of research on how to fix that without surgery. Thus, how I ended up trying Curology once again. Five years can give a company a huge jump for growth, and that was really what I was crossing my fingers for.

Welp. I was disappointed once again.

I kid you not, within the first two days of using their system, I broke out in cystic acne again. All over my chin, my cheeks, and tiny bumps all over my forehead. I tried to calm myself, thinking it might take longer than a week to get better. It didn’t. It kept getting worse, and again, I hadn’t broke out in cystic acne since I was in my early twenties. Even with the year of hormonal changes that come with having a baby, I never got cystic acne like I had while using Curology.

I messaged my dermatologist through Curology about my concerns and they assured me that my skin quality would improve within another week. Again, my skin didn’t improve, it just kept getting worse.

I finally threw in the towel, went back to what I had been using, and my skin cleared up immediately. I wish I had remembered to take before and after pictures, but honestly, I was so embarrassed about the quality of my skin that was too focused on fixed it again.

So, Curology is not and never will be a product the works for my skin type. Not really sure why my skin has such a bad reaction to it, but I would prefer to continue my path of improving my skin's quality rather than diminishing it.

Let me know if Curology worked for you! I’m totally curious how it’s helped anyone else on their skincare journey.

This is all for now!
