Photo Journal: Trout Lake Campground
Every year to celebrate America's Independence, I have always gone out with family and friends to watch the fireworks, eat hot dogs and lounge around. This year was the first year I did not have any plans with my family, and being recently divorced, I did not spend it with my in-laws. I had the craziest urge to get out and away from the world, especially with how chaotic this year as already been. My boyfriend and I set our plans over the weekend before, stuffed my car the morning of and took off north to Trout Lake Campground.
Best. Decision. Ever.
It has never felt so good to get out and away from everyone to the middle of nowhere and do nothing.
The campgrounds were quite small, with only 5 camping spots open first come first serve basis.
The drive into the campground was so lovely and scenic!
When we arrived, there was only one campsite left and we snagged it as soon as we stumbled upon it! I'm very glad we left as early as we did! We set up a few chairs and got working on our tent.
Jacob got a fire going and we lazed around for a little while and ate smoked sausage cheese weenies. You can see our little tent set up in the back of this photo.
I love catching this smile, and am so thankful I get to see it every day. He was so happy to be out in the woods!
As you can tell, I was very pleased that I assisted with the setup and felt that an obligatory woodsy photo ass needed.
Pixel, however, was not pleased to be so far away from home. He curled himself up in my bag of clothes and stayed there for as long as we were in sight. He is definitely a homey, spoiled pupper. Sometimes, I even think he is a cat with his feline-like behavior.
There was a small dock we could go out on to fish; There were no fish, and half the walkway to the dock was submerged under water. Jacob and I braved the ice cold water to sit on the dock with Pixel and relax to the simple sounds of nature. Ah! It was so refreshing.
If you have never been camping, I strongly urge you to give it a try! There is something so refreshing about getting away from the busy city and busy life.
Poor Pixel was trying to find as many ways as he could to feel more comfortable and "at home" in the woods.
One of the walkways to a hiking path. My camera lens and I couldn't resist!
That same pathway lead to a bridge over a small creek to get to the hiking path.
I swear I did not think it would get as hot as it did. We started the hike at 10 AM when it was still quite chilly outside. By the time we were an hour through our hike, I had stripped down to my flannel shirt and wrapped both my jacket and sweater around my waist. I felt like a crazy bag lady with my outfit change!
The views along our two hour hike were stunning.
I almost stepped on this little guy! He was hiding along the pathway to the dock when I noticed movement next to my feet. He stayed still long enough for me to get this shot of him, and what a cutie he was!
I have a few more trips coming up that I would be more than happy to share with you all! I am still getting settled into my new apartment, so hopefully soon I'll show you all around!
This is all for now my lovelies!
